The 2005, 2nd Quarter, Area 64 Assembly will be co-hosted by Districts 12 and 13 at the Double Tree Hotel in Murfreesboro, TN on April 1st to April 3rd, 2005. As of this date, the hotel has been established with all meeting rooms and/or banquet rooms accounted for. Additionally, all committees have begun to work on their respective duties. The individuals listed below (alphabetically) are currently participating in the Assembly. As we draw closer to the actual time our committees will begin to expand and opportunities for service work within District 13 will become available. These opportunities will be posted in all meeting areas within our district. The Saturday night Hospitality meal may be a possible consideration for District 13 to host. Since we do not speak for the groups within the district, all we will be doing is presenting ideas on ways this could be accomplished. Money donations is one; potluck is another; chili cook-off etc. Secretary, Diane T., District 13 Humble House Group Alt-Chairperson, Jay D., District 13 Wilson Co. As many of you know, we are served by the Middle Tennessee Central Office of Alcoholics Anonymous located in Nashville, TN. But, do you know what that means? Well, the MTCO has a great page that explains all of the ins and outs of Central Office administration. As stated on the "What is Central Office?" page, "The Central Office exists to aid our regional groups in their common purpose of carrying the AA message to the alcoholic who still suffers."
The Central Office provides a telephone hotline, a 12th step list to refer calls from individuals or families seeking help, an inventory of AA books and literature for resale and distributions to AA groups and others, a Middle Tennessee AA Directory of Meetings, and of course, The Messenger, the MTCO monthly newsletter. Please visit the Middle Tennessee Central Office site to learn more about the critical services that are offered.

No, this story is not about District 13 news and events. This is a story about one man's accomplishment made possible by the program of Alcoholics Anonymous. But there are many similar stories taking place every day in District 13 and througout the world. In clarifying AA's simple program, often confusing to outsiders, the article states, "To be sure, it is a program often perplexing for being so counter-intuitive and rooted so much in paradox. It is about personal responsibility and mutual support, surrender as a means to freedom, concern for others as the route to understanding the self, and selfless service as a path to personal gain."

"The public will be able to view for the first time the tiny study room where admitted alcoholics Robert Smith and William Wilson formed the group that today has more than 2 million members worldwide. The home will be opened Saturday and Sunday as A.A. members mark Founders Day weekend, the annual event that honors the start of the organization that focuses on sobriety through faith and fellowship."
